Philippine Airlines expansion underway

Philippine Airlines has commenced new services to Perth, Darwin and Brisbane as it ramps up its presence in the Australian market.

The airline's first Perth flight touched down this morning from Manila, with four times weekly services to operate on the route.

Inaugural services on both the Darwin and Brisbane routes arrived yesterday. The carrier will serve the Northern Territory capital daily, and will fly onward to Brisbane three times weekly.

The new additions, combined with existing services to Sydney and Melbourne, take Philippine Airlines' Australian capacity to 7400 seats per week.

Brisbane Airport Corporation descibed the return of PAL services between Manila and Brisbane via Darwin after a two year hiatus as a "big win" for Queensland. The three flights per week will provide nearly 500 additional seats per week on the route using an A320 aircraft.

“The return of Philippine Airlines to Brisbane confirms the growing popularity of the Asia Pacific region with Queenslanders and we are happy that these new flights provide more options in services and destinations for travellers,” general manager airline business development Cam Macphee said.
