Travellers Choice has reported one of its “most sustained  periods of growth” in its 37 year history is underway, as it welcomed five new member shareholders across four states to its network.

The new additions are: Travel and Cruise Professionals in Adelaide, SA; B & P Travel & Cruise in Mt Gambier, SA; Endeavour Travel & Cruise in Cairns, QLD; Travel Design in Sale, VIC, Collie Travel and Cruise, WA.

Chief executive Christian Hunter praised the “exceptional calibre” of the new members.

"The Travellers Choice model – which combines low fees with a broad range of support services and an ownership structure in which our members are the Company's sole shareholders – is continuing to attract well-established, highly-successful travel enterprises run by people who bring enormous amounts of experience and expertise to their roles," he said.

"All of these businesses deliver a positive contribution to our group – financially and culturally – and that value ultimately flows through to all Travellers Choice shareholders."

The Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will jointly stage a National Tourism Forum (NTF) in Honiara on August 29.

The announcement comes as the destination seeks to position tourism as its largest foreign exchange earner over the next 10 years.

The event, to be held at the Heritage Park Hotel will address a variety of issues relevant to the industry which will help to drive and shape it going forward, according to SIVB chief executive Josefa Tuamoto.

Travel Counsellors will be broadcasting a special webinar on 9th July at 7pm, for those who may be interested in running their own travel business as part of the company.

The live show is a result of a surge of interest in the company’s business model in recent weeks, as the company continues to see strong growth. It will feature head office staff members plus a number of the company’s agents, who will talk openly about their personal experiences in making the decision to run their own businesses from home.

The new go explore e-ticket for the Gold Coast light rail and buses will help visitors explore the region simply and easily, according to peak national industry body Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF).

TTF director media & communications Rowan Barker said this is great first step in making the new Gold Coast light rail visitor friendly.
