Malaysia stands by "deliberate act" theory as PM arrives in Perth

The Malaysian authorities have stood by their theory that a “deliberate action” by someone on board Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 caused it to divert from its flight path, despite recent speculation of a mechanical failure.

Transport minister Hishamuddin Hussein said on Tuesday night: “The Malaysian authorities remain convinced that a “deliberate action” by someone on board Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 caused it to divert from its scheduled flight path.

However, the full transcript of communications between MH370 pilots and air traffic control has now been made public and shows no sign of any sinister comments as first reported, or of any trouble on board.

It confirms the final words uttered by those at the controls of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 at 01.19am as “Good Night Malaysian Three Seven Zero” in response to air traffic control, rather than the more irregular “All right good night” which was first revealed.

"There is no indication of anything abnormal in the transcript," Hussein admitted in a statement.

The aircraft went off radar shortly afterwards, with no wreckage as yet found although it is believed to be located in the southern Indian Ocean where search efforts are now concentrated.

The Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak will arrive in Perth today for a two-day visit that will see him tour the RAAF Base Pearce and personally thank the international forces involved in the search operation.

“Prime Minister Najib Razak will see first-hand the dedication and skill of the international contingent that has marshalled resources for the search,” Prime Minister Tony Abbott said.

“The Minister for Defence and I will tour RAAF Base Pearce with the Prime Minister and receive briefings from the recently formed Joint Agency Coordination Centre headed by Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston AC AFC.”

Hussein described the international cooperation involved in the search as “nothing short of tremendous”.

“As Prime Minister Abbot said, it is heartening to see so many different countries working together for a humanitarian cause; to resolve this extraordinary mystery; and to bring closure for the families of those on board,” he said.MH370’s movements were consistent with deliberate action by someone on the plane.”
