Aussies that appreciate good food can now experience a new selection of dishes on board Malaysia Airline flights in economy class.

The new MH Gourmet service allows guests to replace their complimentary meal with a gourmet feast, including a fine-dining main inspired by Malaysian, Japanese or Western cuisine.

“This new service is part of our commitment to ensuring our guests have the best possible experience and a memorable journey,” regional senior vice president Lee Poh Kait said.

“We know that Australians love their food and this is a perfect complement to our Malaysian heritage, which places huge importance on cuisine.”

Appetisers, desserts, chocolates and crunchy fresh bread are extra additions to the menu which includes dishes such as braised beef cheeks, chicken cordon bleu, zingy prawn piccata and beef rending tok.

The whole package will be available for RM49 (AU$17) from June 3 to July 3, and AU$23 thereafter.

The airline has also introduced an On Air Celebration service, giving passengers the chance to mark special occasions on board. On Air Celebration cakes will be priced at AU$83.

The new services are available from Kuala Lumpur to destinations in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, India and the Middle East. Bookings must be made at least 24 hours before flight departure.
