As the temperature heats up, so is Sydney’s tourism proposition with the city expecting to welcome some 17 million tourists to its shores this summer.

Hoping to capture even more regional, interstate and international visitors than the typically 15 million that visit Sydney between October and March, Destination NSW released a new time-lapse video which captures a slice of Sydney in summer.

“Last year Sydney welcomed 16 million visitors between October and March, up around 9% on the previous year. These visitors stayed more than 48 million nights, adding $8 billion to the NSW economy,” Tourism and Major Events, deputy premier and minister, Troy Grant said.

“Summer in Sydney will once again give every visitor something to enjoy – from our beautiful beaches, fantastic food and wine, great shopping and of course our major events and festivals.”

The new time-lapse video, Summer in Sydney, is expecting to lure visitors and locals alike to partake in outdoor activities, according to Destination NSW ceo, Sandra Chipchase.

“Sports fanatics, art lovers, bargain shoppers, beach goers, and festival fans are all covered this summer with an exciting range of events taking place all over Sydney,” she said.
