An international travel agent education program with a focus on selling cruise holidays will form part of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australiasia's new global structure.

Following June's cruise3sixty conference, held in Vancouver, it was agreed CLIA Australasia would work with counterparts CLIA UK and CLIA US to develop the global cruise industry accreditation scheme.

"Training is vital when it comes to travel consultants' ability to sell cruise holidays," CLIA Australasia general manager Brett Jardine said. "Our markets are leaders in this field, and it's no coincidence that we have the highest population penetration rates for cruising anywhere in the world,"

"By combining the best available resources from each of the different markets we will be able to deliver a global standard with consistent learning outcomes at all levels of accrediation that will eventually be available to travel agents worldwide."
