Branson to serve AirAsia X flight in drag

Virgin boss Richard Branson will be forced to comply with AirAsia X's grooming standards, when he serves on board its Perth-Kuala Lumpur service dressed as a female flight attendant.

The bizarre game of dress-up fulfils his end of a wager made two years ago with AirAsia chief executive, Tony Fernandes, on who had the better Formula 1 team – a bet which Branson lost.

As a result, he will have to shave his legs, put on some slap, shimmy into a red AirAsia X skirt in a pair of heels, then serve passengers aboard flight D7 237.

As Fernandes took glee in explaining the airline's grooming standards, he recalled the time he worked for Branson.

"It's hilarious to think now, that it's Richard who will be working for me as a sassy flight attendant," he said.

Meanwhile, Branson admitted he would need to practice walking in heels before the big day.

"I've done some outrageous things in my time, but this will be up there with the best of them," he said.

Fares for the historic flight are now on sale on AirAsia's website priced at $399 one way with $100 from each seat will be donated to the Starlight Children's Foundation in Australia. An additional 10% of all inflight sales on the day, including duty free, will also go to the charity.
