Aussie couples need to get away more
By admin

Research from lastminute.com.au has shown that nearly one in three Aussies have never booked a holiday for their partner, despite 77% of women and 72% of men admitting they love the idea.

With couples statistically more likely to be spontaneous with their partner (especially in the bedroom) when they’re on a holiday, it’s no wonder couples are being encouraged to get out of town and go on a trip.

A total of 92% of Aussies believe that travel can inject a bit more spark into the relationship, but according to lastminute.com.au spokeswoman Louise Ryan, couples are reluctant to take the initiative.

“Most people have a desire to be swept away, but wait for their partner to book a trip in vain,” she explains.

“Perhaps the answer is to be proactive and book a cheeky weekend away to spice up the romance in a relationship?”

Following in the footsteps of celebrity couples, lastminute.com.au has put together a list of destinations for you to take your partner on a getaway.

Uluru, Northern Territory

If it’s good enough for Prince William and Kate Middleton, it’s good enough for you and your significant other! Embrace the beauty of the outback, have dinner under the stars, and watch the glowing sunset with a glass of bubbly.

Thailand

Controversially loved-up couple Blake Garvey and Louise Pillidge escaped The Bachelor spotlight here recently, and stayed at a secluded five-star villa on resort island Koh Samui. It doesn’t get more romantic than this.

Blue Mountains

If you’re thinking more along the lines of a surprise getaway just hours out of Sydney, the Blue Mountains are ideal.

Michael and Kyly Clark wedded at the Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort in 2012, and with breathtaking mountain backdrops, private pools, villas and romantic dining, you’ll easily rekindle the romance.

Hawaii

Nowhere says honeymoon romance like Hawaii does, so if it’s newlywed bliss you’re looking for, jump on a plane immediately.

Lara Bingle and Sam Worthington recently escaped to this destination, and when you’re sipping mai tais by the pool and enjoying moonlit walks on the beach, you’ll feel like a loved-up celeb too.

Whitsundays

Keep it close to home where the Jolie/Pitt clan holidayed recently, and enjoy the serenity of Airlie Beach and its surrounds, as one of the most beautiful destinations down under.

Europe

For the big spender looking to impress, follow in Buddy Franklin and Jesinta Campbell’s footsteps and get shacked up in Toulon, France or Venice, Italy.

Soak up the romance of these European cities, and enjoy the incredible culture and sites together.
