Entries open for 2014 Avis Scholarship
By admin

Avis has officially launched its travel agent scholarship for 2014, with all Australian agents encouraged to take part.

Currently in its 18th year, the scholarship encourages, recognises and rewards outstanding customer service from travel agents across the country.

It places an emphasis on agents' personal expertise and commitment to a high standard of service rather than simply the number of sales they put through, according to organisers.

“The reason I love the scholarship so much is because it’s a personal achievement, it’s not about my sales or anything like that," 2013 Avis scholarship winner Anne Hobbs said.

“I am so grateful for the opportunities it has given me to increase my skills and I am now doing things I never thought were possible."

The recipient of the scholarship will receive a range of valuable experiences, with the chance to advance their career and knowledge through travel and educational prizes.

Alongside the prize of two business class return tickets to New York, six nights’ accommodation and seven days car rental from Avis, the winner will receive first-hand experience with site visits to US travel agencies, training with Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia and personal coaching from Polonious Resources.

The other major prize is a scholarship to study at Southern Cross University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, with financial support of up to $10,000 put towards the course.

Southern Cross University has also announced its commitment to the Avis scholarship by promising another three years of sponsorship to the program.
