Adelaide has celebrated the opening of its newest hotel, the ibis Adelaide, in an elaborate event.

Premier of South Australia the Honourable Jay Weatherill joined the Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood and hotel owner James Hines to welcome over 150 guests to the opening of the contemporary new hotel.

The opening promised to ‘paint the town red’, and that it did, with the hotel lit up in red, and a red carpet rolled out for the numerous guests, including My Kitchen Rules 2014 winners Jessica Liebich and Paul Wood.

Nova presenter Dylan Lewis took on MC duties, while guests were entertained by Aria-nominated Emma Louise and local bands Oisima and Selah:Live.

The opening of the hotel also signified the launch of the new Australia-wide ibis campaign, ‘Paint it Red’, which will support Aussie music and music lovers through social media, ticket giveaways and a range of in-hotel features such as local gig guides, music magazines and live performances.

Ibis Adelaide offers 311 accommodation rooms, with facilities for both business and leisure travellers, such as the latest Samsung technology fitted in every room, and commissioned artwork by street graffiti artist Ghostpatrol.

The new ibis Adelaide adds to Accor’s network of ibis hotels, with the $70 million property the first new-build ibis to be developed in Australia since 2008.
