The Australian Federation of Travel Agents has ramped up its social media presence with the launch of a new Twitter account.
AFTA chief executive Jayson Westbury described Twitter as the "ideal channel" for the body to highlight the value of dealing with AFTA members.
"Our presence on Twitter will help extend AFTA's visibility, and allow us to promote the value of dealing with the best in Australian travel," he said.
In addition to its new @AFTAOfficial Twitter handle, AFTA is also encouraging travel agents to use the #AusTravel hashtag in order to "consolidate" conversation within the Australian travel industry.
Meanwhile, AFTA is preparing for the July 20 National Travel Industry Awards, which it declared as the "largest ever". More than 2000 industry representatives are expected to attend the event which will see winners announced in over 30 categories. The event hashtag is #NTIA13.
