The Carnival legend cruise ship made Sydney its official home this week as it kicks off Australia's largest ever cruise season.

The highly anticipated 88,500-tonne ship made it's entrance into Sydney Harbour on Monday and took cruise industry friends on a one-night sail yesterday to showcase what it has on offer for Australian cruisers.

Welcomed by large crowds along the shores of the harbour, the Carnival Legend is the first international ship to arrive in Australia for the upcoming 2014-15 summer cruise season. The ship will sail on 22 cruises out of Sydney over the next seven months.

Carnival Legend boasts the ideal family holiday cruise, according to the cruise liner, highlighting new inclusions from its Hasbro Game Show and Dr Seuss partnerships.

Carnival Cruise Lines vice president Australia and New Zealand, Jennifer Vandekreeke, explained how the Carnival Legend will be a premier choice for Australian cruise enthusiasts.

"Australians have shown a real affinity for Carnival Cruise Lines because we share a similar outlook on life, a passion for fun, new experiences and adventure."

The ship includes an array of dining options such as the Bonsai Sushi restaurant, the Red Frog Pub and the previously mentioned Hasbro Game Show and Seuss at Sea programme, and is said to have been specifically catered for the Australian market with hopes it will be one of the most successful deployments this year.
