Brisbane Airport and Wyndham Resorts go surfing for a good cause
By admin

The 2014 Brisbane Airport/Wyndham Resorts Corporate Surf Challenge will be held at Duranbah Beach on the Gold Coast this year on October 3.

Presented by Primitive Surf, the event raises money for charity, with this year’s chosen charity the FSHD Global Research Foundation, an organisation dedicated to finding a treatment and cure for Facioscapulohumeral Dystrophy (FSHD).

Hawaiian Airlines has also jumped on board the event bandwagon, offering participants the chance to win free flights to Hawaii, while a few surfing legends are auctioning off their surfing services to the highest bidders.

Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific was a newcomer to the event in 2013, and has teamed up with Brisbane Airport Corporation to be major sponsors of the event this year.

Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific’s managing director and CEO Barry Robinson said the Surf Challenge presents a fun way for companies to support the FSHD Global Research Foundation.

“This amazing foundation funds a number of research initiatives each year, without the aid of government or MDA support, so we are very pleased to be involved in such a great cause,” Robinson said.

The FSHD Global Research Foundation has funded 22 research projects over the past six years in the USA, Netherlands, Italy, France, Belgium, Canada and Australia.
