Carnival Australia chief executive Ann Sherry has joined the Sydney Airport Ltd Board, with Bob Morris to step down after 11 years.

Chairman Max Moore highlighted Sherry's "wealth of experience" in the tourism industry.

"A key focus for Sydney Airport over the last few years has been to take a leadership role in tourism, and Ms Sherry's industry experience will support our strategy to grow tourism for the benefit of Sydney, NSW and Australia," he said.

 

Emirates today launched its daily, non-stop service between Dubai and Boston, taking its network of US destinations to eight.

The new service is operated by Boeing 777-200LR aircraft in a three-class configuration.

 

Mark Lankester of Tune Hotels, HotelClub President Nicolas Chu, Wotif.com chief Scott Blume, Toga Hotels CEO Rachel Argaman and Baillie Lodges co-Founder James Baillie are among the speakers confirmed for this year’s No Vacancy Australia.

The event will take place at Sydney’s Sheraton on the Park on March 26. Tickets are priced from $549 plus GST.

 

Air New Zealand will increase operations on its popular Auckland – San Francisco route to 10 return services per week during the peak Northern winter period.

The service increase will apply between mid-December and March 2015 and includes double daily flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

 

Intrepid Urban Adventures has expanded its program of 'Home Cooked' tours, which invite travellers into the homes of local families to share a meal and learn about local life.

New additions to the Home Cooked range include Home Vooked Bucharest, Home Cooked Kochi and Home Cooked Silk Road.

“You can’t get a more authentic, enriching local experience than dining in someone’s home with them," UA general manager Tony Carne said.

"Sharing a meal is how we connect with friends and family, so to have the same experience with a local family while you are travelling can be very special and memorable.” 

 

Marriott Hotels and Miyako Hotels & Resorts have announced the opening of the Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel, the first property for the brand in Osaka and its fourth in Japan

 The 360-room co-branded hotel is located on the top floors of Japan’s tallest building, Abeno Harukas.
