TTF names new chief executive

Margy Osmond has been confirmed as the new chief executive of the Tourism and Transport Forum following the departure of Ken Morrison last month.

Morrison stepped down from the position after just over a year in the role to return to the Property Council of Australia, where he has been appointed chief executive.

Chairman Bruce Baird highlighted Osmond’s 20 years of experience as an advantage for the industry body. In that time she has served as chief executive of the Australian National Retailers Association and the NSW State Chamber of Commerce and was a former board member of Tourism NSW, NSW Major Events and Bell Shakespeare.

She is a current board member of the Australian Sports Commission and the NSW TAFE Commission Board.

“We are extremely pleased to announce Ms Osmond’s appointment as TTF’s new chief executive officer following an extensive recruitment process,” Baird said.

“She is a well-established commentator with a strong track record of policy and campaign development.  I am confident Ms Osmond will capably drive TTF’s advocacy of the economic importance of the tourism and transport sectors in Australia.”

Her appointment comes at a “critical” time with the state and federal government exhibiting an “elevated” interest on transport and tourism infrastructure, he added.

Meanwhile, Osmond said she welcomed the opportunity to help the organisation continue to achieve results.

“My focus will be on keeping the industry’s issues at the forefront of the political agenda,” she said.

She will take up the role on October 1, with Trent Zimmerman filling the role of acting chief executive in the meantime.
