New platform makes travel transactions social

New platform makes travel transactions social
By admin

The launch of a new online platform makes it easier for groups to book trips with selected tour operators by creating a dedicated landing page where they can plan trips then process their payments.

Sydney-based Troopr partnered with snow specialist Oz Snow earlier this year to provide the functionality to groups planning a trip to the snow.

Chief executive Richard Ing told Travel Today that the platform works much like Facebook events, but with the ability for group members to transact and actually make the booking.

“But it’s not just about a way to pay – it’s about trying to catch people earlier in the booking process,” he said.

“It’s a booking system that’s looking to change way friends or a family would transact with a tour provider.”

The aim is for the group leader to undertake marketing on behalf of the operator, spreading the word through their own social networks.

Although not restricted to the sphere of travel, Ing highlighted the platform’s relevance to tour operators and potentially travel agents further down the line once it can cater to the higher levels of customisation required.

Oz Snow chief executive Matt Goddall highlighted the benefits of the platform for group bookings.

“Whether it’s a group of 4 or 40 friends, this innovative social group booking platform increased our customer bookings, helped us manage groups more efficiently and empowers group organisers to play a key role in our social media marketing.”

With more than 21 groups booking via the platform since its May launch, Ing revealed that Troopr has expansion in its sights.
