Trafalgar turns to religion

Trafalgar turns to religion
By admin

Faith-based touring will become a new focus for Trafalgar with the launch of three new itineraries offering Australian travellers a "spiritual journey".

The concept has been devised by the touring firm's Australian arm in response to demand from both trade and consumers, according to managing director Matt Cameron-Smith.

"The groups team gets quite a lot of requests for this style of itinerary," he told Travel Today. "We're derisking it for those who can't take a whole departure, to be able to sell onto a group of like-minded people."

Although initially available exclusively in Australia, Cameron-Smith is confident the piloted product will soon be "picked up" by the firm's other markets.

"The itineraries have only just been released but so far the reponse has been outstanding," he said. "We're very confident this is going to go well."

Cameron-Smith expects the product to appeal to all those who have considered a pilgrimage, and underlined the products' strong intergenerational appeal.

While the three new itineraries follow paths that are particularly significant to Christianity, routes significant to other religions may be explored down the line, he revealed.

But he stressed the eight-day Wonders of the Holy Land trip which visits Galilee and Jordan, has significance for a those of a variety of beliefs.
