More than 80 of the world’s most influential foodies will arrive on Australian shores in November to take part in a nation-wide gastronomic tour across Australia and 'Invite the World to Dinner’ to be held in Tasmania in what has been described as “the most extraordinary dining room on earth”.

The international food & wine VIPs include reviewers, bloggers, critics, celebrity chefs and TV personalities – to name a few – all handpicked by Tourism Australia to take part in its Restaurant Australia campaign and collectively expected to reach more than 400 million fans and followers in Australia’s most important international markets.

“As guest lists go I think you’d have to go a long, long way to compile a more impressive line-up of truly global food and wine influencers. They’ll get to sample our country’s finest culinary experiences and then join us at MONA in Tasmania on 14 November to take their seat in what promises to be the most extraordinary dining room on earth,” Tourism Australia, managing director, John O’Sullivan said.

“Through this epic journey these international, gastronomic VIPs will meet the people, visit the places and sample the fresh produce which make our food, wine and culinary experiences extraordinary and truly world class. More importantly though, they’ll share these incredible stories through their huge followings, helping to inspire the many others to follow in their footsteps.”

The group will also be accompanied by 10 foreign TV crews from USA, UK, India, China, Malaysia, Japan, Italy and Singapore – all key international markets according to TA.

Guests will be provided with personalised four-day itineraries from each of the States and Territories, culminating in a gala dinner at MONA in Tasmania – which today was recognised by Lonely Planet as one of the top 10 must see regions for 2015. Diners will get to sample dishes from some of Australia’s most recognised chefs – Neil Perry, Rockpool Head Chef,  Peter Gilmore, Quay Executive Chef and Ben Shewry, Attica Head Chef and recognised as Best New Talent within in the culinary industry.

“It’s such an honour for myself, Peter and Ben to get such an opportunity to showcase the finest Australian produce in such a breath-taking setting and hopefully the menu we’ve prepared will linger long in the memory and be one which our illustrious guests will never forget,” Neil Perry said.
