Adventure World has confirmed Carole Perrin as its newly created head of sales to be based in Sydney.

Perrin will take up the role in mid-March, puting an end to her seven years as director of sales for Hotelbeds.

During her time at the Hotelbeds, Carole focused on developing new business partnerships with wholesalers, travel operators, OTAs and travel agency chains. She also worked with Destination NSW in the areas of sales promotion and sponsorship.

“Carole is a very welcome addition to the growing Adventure World team,” managing director Fiona Hunt said. “Her leadership skills and experience across the industry will help to steer Adventure World towards new and continued sales growth.”

The number of visitors to Ireland from Australia and New Zealand exceeded expectations between November and January surging 41% on the previous corresponding period, Tourism Ireland has revealed.

The tourism body attributed the strong performance to the destination's value for money, increased air access and the success of its year-long The Gathering campaign.

"Tourism Ireland relies on airline partners to assist in growing the awareness of Ireland as a standalone destination and as an add-on to larger European vacations," manager Australia and New Zealand Diane Butler said.

"Competitive fares to Ireland are crucial, but to have the added benefit of one-stop flights to Ireland can't be overlooked as another factor in the decision making process for Australians who are well travelled and knowledgeable."

Peregrine Adventures has launched a new campaign to celebrate 20 years of using local leaders in each of its destinations, with 20 trips over 20 days up for grabs.

The company has 230 local leaders in more than 90 countries around the world with general manager Steve Wrote describing them as the “most important” part of the Peregrine experience.

“They’re at the heart of everything we do and we are excited to offer travellers an opportunity to become a part of the Peregrine story through this campaign,” he said.

All entrants will receive 10% off bookings in March with departure before December 15 excluding polar, groups, extensions and Reserve. Click here for more information.

Trafalgar has confirmed that 90% of its Europe and Britain departures are already guaranteed as definite.

The announcement comes as the operator promised more definite departures than any of its competitors for the second year running.

In addition, Trafalgar is giving agents increased commissions of up to 15% during the month of March for bookings across its entire guided holiday portfolio to underline its commitment to the trade.

The extra incentive coincides with the end of the Early Payment Discount which features savings of up to $1270 per person available on its 2014 Europe and Britain programme.

Online corporate travel booking company Serko has appointed Tim Bluett to the Auckland-based role of chief financial officer.

A new “Bus n Bed” package from FallsBus and HothamBus is offering Melbourne hotel accommodation combined with coach transfers to and from Falls Creek, Hotham Alpine Resort and Dinner Plain.

Ideal for skiers not wanting to catch overnight flights into Tullamarine Airport, the packages are priced from $129 per person twin share.
