ATAS has announced it has reached 2000 accredited agents under the scheme, with numbers expected to continue growing alongside industry support.

AFTA general manager Gary O’Riordan said the broad industry support from independents and major travel groups highlights the importance of the reforms at a consumer, agent and industry level.

“The 2,000 agents already accredited reflect the majority of the industry in terms of turnover, and include a growing list of independents and majors,” O’Riordan said.

“Application levels have remained constant since the July 1 commencement of ATAS and the accreditation team are continuing to work hard to ensure timely review and processing of applications,” he continued, stating that a further 400 applications were currently underway.
