MSC Cruises is bringing a ship to Australia for the first time in its history.

The 2,550-capacity MSC Orchestra will arrive in Cairns on March 13 2015 before continuing to Brisbane (March 15), Sydney (March 17) Melbourne (March 20) and Adelaide on March 22. The cruise ends in Fremantle on March 26.

The Australian visit forms part of the liner’s 33-night Grand Voyage from Dubai to Australia, departing February 21.

MSC is expected to use the opportunity to showcase its product to the local trade with agents likely to be given tours of the Orchestra.

“I am thrilled to be bringing MSC Orchestra to Australian waters,” MSC Cruises managing director Lynne Clarke said. “I will be equally excited for our loyal passengers to have the chance to see the cruise ship in their home waters.”

The voyage will take in the Indian ports of Mumbai and Cochin before cruising to the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo then onto Phuket, Langkawi, Singapore and Benoa in Bali. It will then head to Australia.

Prices begin at $3299 person twin share for an inside cabin, rising to $3899 for an ocean view cabin and $5499 for a suite.

MSC Orchestra was built in 2007 and was the second in the Musica class of MSC ship.
