Today marks the launch of a new partnership between Jetstar and Cruise Guru that will aim to connect even more Australians to the rapidly growing cruise industry.

The pair announced this morning that Jetstar customers will now be able to book their cruise holidays online at Jetstar.com, which will be powered by Cruise Guru using Cruise Choice technology.

Australians looking to book a getaway can now jump ship with a full range of domestic and international cruise itineraries, accompanied by live availability and instant confirmation.

The partnership was officially launched at a media briefing in Sydney just hours ago aboard the P&O Pacific Jewel.

Speaking at the briefing, Cruise Guru’s joint managing director Justin Montgomery said it was a serious game changer for Australian families and travellers looking to enhance their holiday with the addition of a cruise.

"We see the brand fit between Cruise Guru and Jetstar as a perfect fit. We're able to offer different products, different places, and different prices," he said.

"The team is now able to fulfil air, cruise, and land destination options."

"With the launch this morning on Channel 7, we've already had a number of bookings come in since 7.30am."

Montgomery also added that the partnership was not about pushing customers to purely online, saying, "It's not about driving one way or another, it's about giving consumers choice," reassuring that both online and over-the-phone avenues to book would continue to make things easiest for travellers.

With 18 of the world’s most popular cruise lines available to book, Cruise Guru will offer Jetstar customers an abundance of choice, full online support and instant confirmation once they click that magic button.

Jetstar’s head of product Carly Povey said the partnership was forged in response to growing customer demand.

“We’ve watched the increasing trend of cruising and wanted to be able to make this unique travel experience accessible to our customers,” she said.

“We have great flexibility with the cruises at Jetstar.com, from short trips within Australia to longer cruises around South East Asia to suit a range of budgets.”

"It's such a small world in terms of travel, but this opens up the opportunity to see more of the world," adding that travellers can expect cruise lines now available through Jetstar Cruises to launch promotional fares in the coming days.

P&O Cruises’ senior vice president Tammy Marshall commented on the launch as one of the cruise lines on board the new venture, saying it was an important step for the company.

“P&O Cruises is the first cruise line to be promoted by Jetstar Cruises. This clearly marks our status as the booking engine’s largest cruise line partner,” Marshall said.

“It was an easy decision for P&O Cruises to support Jetstar Cruises and Cruise Guru’s new venture.”

"This opens up new possibilities via the cruise industry, which is a sign of the maturing cruise business."

To celebrate the launch, Jetstar Cruises is offering three special offers aboard the Pacific Jewel, ranging from east coast cruises in September next year to Pacific Island voyages and an Indonesian adventure, starting at $549 per person twin share.
