Cathay considers changes to lounge access

Cathay Pacific is said to be looking to change its unlimited lounge access policy as part of proposals in a consultation the airline is undertaking on its frequent flyer scheme.

According to a report in the SCMP, passengers may have to fly with the airline at least once a week to qualify for unlimited lounge access, which is now available to any Marco Polo Club silver or higher-tier members.

The move would effectively bump out silver-tier members from using the airport lounge facilities to as few as four times per year, with unlimited access reserved for gold or diamond tier members, according to the report.

The paper reports the possible changes were outlined in a survey sent to Marco Polo members for feedback on its main loyalty programme.

"The survey mentioned is part of our continuous efforts to identify customer preferences so that we can best meet their changing needs. No decisions have been taken regarding the findings of the survey,” a spokeswoman for Cathay told SCMP.
