By admin

Tasman loads factors dipped sharply for Air New Zealand last month, falling 2.4 percentage points to 83.1%. The fall came amid a rise in demand of 1.8% against capacity increases of 4.8%.

Overall loads fell 0.7 points to 83.6%.

But Air NZ said the network performed strongly during the month, contributing to a better than expected group financial performance in the final quarter of the 2012 financial year.

The airline carried 1.124 million passengers in June, 0.2% more than the same month last year. Long haul passenger numbers climbed almost 11% with capacity and demand rising 11.1% and 11.7% respectively.

Demand on North America and UK routes, measured in revenue passenger kilometres, increased 9.1%, with loads rising 1.4 points to 90%, while Asia, Japan and UK routes saw a 16.2% increase in demand. But loads fell 0.4 points to 78.2% after a sharp increase in capacity of 16.7%.

Short haul numbers were down however, by 1.2%.

Group wide yields for the financial year to date grew 3%, with long haul yields up 4% and short haul increasing by 1%.
