Midweek interview with Ben Milbourne, TV personality, MasterChef finalist

The challenge for the industry is… Finding the balance between

The things I like about my job… The creativity, making people smile, leading people on new experiences

And the frustrations are … being away from family

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… back in the classroom teaching.

Virgin or Qantas?  Both

My proudest moment was… The birth of my Daughter

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… can’t remember!

I try to relax by… Going to the gym

The last time I feared for my life was… Any time I’m in the passenger seat when my wife is driving

If I can, I always try to avoid… negative people.

I really wish I had… More hours in my day

The best advice I’ve ever received was… Don't complicate simple things

I don’t understand why people… Complicate simple things

My greatest weakness is… eating chips and lollies!

And my greatest strength is… retaining knowledge.

If I was prime minister I would… Not use fear to control the electorate

If I won $1 million on the lottery I would… take my family on a holiday

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a… My Wife

I’ve always wanted to travel to… travel around Australia on our motorcycles, or now probably in a motorhome with our daughter.

My favourite holiday was… The next one I’m going on.

As a MasterChef finalist and TV personality, Milbourne is engaged with fresh food produce, and in his latest book Tasmanian Trail, he explores the isle, meeting with owners, famers, fishermen, chocolatiers and brewers of local food, available from New Holland Publishers for $40.
