Expedition Sales Consultant

One Ocean Expeditions is a leading small ship cruise company, operating three ice-strengthened vessels in Antarctica, the High Arctic and East Coast Canada. New destinations will be added in 2017/18. The company head office is just outside Vancouver, Canada – with offices in the UK, Europe and Australia. The company is growing rapidly.

 

Working in a small team in an open plan workspace in Neutral Bay (Sydney), we are seeking the expertise of an experienced sales consultant to manage all facets of our customer booking journey – from initial enquiry, file management, invoicing and payment, document preparation and post voyage follow up. You’ll be working with a team of two and will be responsible for:

 

  • Managing phone and web based enquiry from our network of supporting specialist agents, expedition specialists and cruise wholesalers
  • Responding to all enquiries through provision of itinerary and vessel information plus advice on related travel logistics about our destinations
  • Setting up and managing bookings in our proprietary ORCA reservations system
  • Accurate invoicing and file management at all stages of the booking process, right up to production and distribution of final travel documents
  • Brochure mail outs, including production of suitable covering letters and other collateral

 

To be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate the following competencies:

 

  • Minimum of three years sales experience (with preference to those with travel/cruise/adventure/expedition industry background)
  • Excellent attention to detail and great organization skills
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work across a range of IT platforms (Word, Excel, etc)
  • Ability to use initiative and multi-task
  • A self starter
  • An interest in the regions in which we operate, including environment, wildlife, history and culture

 

A comprehensive training and induction programme will be provided. It is a further requirement that the successful candidate is available for product/destination training and familiarization which will require international travel. Some domestic travel will also be required.
