Cendant Travel Distribution Services, parent company of Galileo, Orbitz and Gullivers Travel Associates (GTA), is changing its name to Travelport.
The US-based company has also named Jeff Clarke, former ceo of software firm Computer Associates (CA), as its new chief executive and president effective May 1.
Cendant TDS chairman Gordon Bethune said the adoption of the new Travelport name offered the company an opportunity to "create a strong and unifying brand identity for the distinct travel businesses that comprise the company". "It also allows us the opportunity to leverage the brand equity that already exists in the Travelport name and identifies our company as the destination for travel bookings."
A new logo and brand identity are due to be unveiled later this year.
Prior to joining CA in 2004, Clarke was head of global operations at Hewlett-Packard following its merger with Compaq Computer.
