Malaysian low cost carrier AirAsia X will commence flights between Kuala Lumpur and Perth from November 2.
The carrier will start with six flights a week, before moving to daily services in March 2009.
Perth becomes AirAsia X’s second Australian port after the Gold Coast, which commenced services in November last year.
AirAsia X chief executive Azran Osman-Rani said: “AirAsia X will feed passengers from its extensive network into Perth, effectively creating a low-cost link from South East Asia and China to WA.”
WA tourism minister Sheila McHale said the deal could inject nearly $100 million into the state’s economy in the first year of services.
