British Airways Holidays

The airline-owned wholesaler’s new-look 2006/2007 Britain and Beyond program features “recommended” hotels chosen for their central location, value for money and facilities. The program also offers new dinner and theatre packages, car rental and tours. The currency tab on the front page of the price insert has been colour coded to make it easier to select the appropriate year's prices when costing a trip. New destinations in Europe include Iceland’s capital Reykjavik, Varna in Bulgaria, Dalaman in Turkey, Rhodes in Greece, and Ajaccio in Corsica.

Haggis and Shamrocker

European adventure travel network Radical Travel’s 2006 Haggis and Shamrocker UK and Ireland brochure for backpackers and independent travellers includes the new six-day Haggis ‘Compass Buster’ tour which travels through Scotland’s west coast, the far north-western Highlands, and the Isle of Skye. Shamrocker and Haggis use local guides, and the tours visit main tourist attractions as well as going off the beaten track. Room prices, meals and entrance fees are not included in tour costs, allowing travellers to dine and sightsee within their budget.

Intrepid Travel

Intrepid's worldwide 2006 brochure of Real Life Experiences offers more than 250 itineraries across all seven continents. The brochure features two new trip styles: ‘Intrepid Active’ and ‘Intrepid Comfort’. Among the tour additions are the ‘Active’ 14-day ‘Heart of Borneo’ in Sabah, and an eight-day Cook Islands tour taking in Rarotonga, the island of Aitu, and the beaches and lagoon of Aitutaki. A 10-day ‘Realm of the Polar Bear’ expedition in the Arctic region will visit Longyearbyen, Krossfjorden, Fugelsangen, Hinlopen Strait, and the Svalbard Archipelago.

AAT Kings

The new 2006/2007 Queensland brochure from AAT Kings gives travellers a chance to explore the state’s beaches as well as the Millaa Millaa Falls in the Atherton Tablelands. Other options are a guided cruise on Lake Barrine, and the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park. The “leisurely paced” tours feature two-night stays with all accommodation, sightseeing, transport and many meals included in the price. Tours include the eight-day ‘Tropics and Reef’ which takes in Hamilton Island, Townsville, Atherton Tablelands, Port Douglas, Cairns, Great Barrier Reef and Kuranda.

Creative Holidays

This 2006/07 Europe program includes new Creative options in provincial France, rail passes in France and Italy, self-drive in Tuscany, and a nine-night ‘Best of Greece’ tour. The Italy/France range has been expanded to meet demand, with more accommodation options in Tuscany and Umbria. Creative claims it has larger allocations at its most popular hotels across the continent. As well as France and Italy, the brochure covers Germany, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, and the Netherlands, plus stopovers in the Middle East.
