Tourism Technology, the company behind Calypso, is developing its BookEasy reservation system for tourism information centres with a flight booking engine among the mid-term objectives.
The online booking software provider was acquired by Roamfree more than a year ago and is used by almost 120 tourist information centre across Australia to book accommodation. The business now sits under Tourism Technology which Roamfree purchased last August.
Tourism Technology managing director Graham Hunter said it was looking to bring efficiencies to BookEasy, including the addition of a flight booking engine.
“This would enable them to bundle up packages to improve the value proposition,” Hunter said. The technology was around 12 months away, he said.
Other possibilities being explored is for BookEasy to link into Tourism Technologies “broader distribution”, including exploiting its connections with travel agents.
BookEasy is looking to expand its reach to 150 tourist centres by the end of the year.
Tourism Technology itself is also planning major expansion, in Australia, Asia Pacific, US and UK, Hunter said.
