Jetstar pricing now all-inclusive on trans-Tasman

From today Jetstar has moved to all-inclusive pricing for the sale of fares from New Zealand for its trans-Tasman services.

The move ends the marketing of fares with a separate base fare plus surcharges, fees and taxes.

Jetstar launched its first international services on the trans-Tasman on December 1 2005, operating 56 weekly flights between Christchurch and four Australian cities.

Ceo Alan Joyce said the adoption of all-inclusive pricing by the Qantas group in New Zealand ensured Jetstar now had a standardised approach to the sale of fares in both New Zealand and Australian markets.

“Jetstar believes all-inclusive pricing is overwhelmingly received as a positive by consumers, and this decision creates a consistent standard in air-fare pricing for our services in both New Zealand and Australia," Joyce said.

He said Jetstar would also seek to quickly remove any existing outdoor advertising promoting separate components of its fares.

The airline's new inclusive fares start from NZD199 for Christchurch-Gold Coast, NZD209 for Christchurch-Brisbane, NZD219 for Christchurch-Melbourne and NZD229 for Christchurch-Sydney.
