Boeing ceo sacked over affair

Boeing has fired its president and ceo, Harry Stonecipher, following an investigation into his relationship with a female colleague executive.

Cfo James Ball is replacing Stonecipher in the interim.

According to a Boeing statement, the company had “asked for and received” Stonecipher’s resignation.

Stonecipher is the second chief executive in two years asked to leave the company. Former chief executive Phil Condit left in December 2003 after scandals over Air Force contracting, which was shortly afterwards followed by the resignation of cfo Mike Sears, who had illegally hired an Air Force official.

Ironically, 68-year old Stonecipher had returned to the company to revamp Boeing’s image, having retired from his ceo and president posts in 1997.

It was James Ball who confronted Stonecipher about the two-month affair, after an anonymous tip-off, and demanded his resignation.

Ball is a 32-year veteran with the company and has served as cfo since November 2003.
