TOPPING THE BEST SELLER LISTS

oach tour companies are seeing a huge increase in bookings to Egypt, with more baby boomers looking for fully escorted product.

Paul Wiseman, managing director of, Trafalgar Tours, said Egypt was the single fastest growing destination in terms of percentage growth in passenger numbers for Trafalgar in 2006, with 45 per cent more bookings than the previous year.

“On top of our two First Class Europe holidays in Egypt, and the two tours in our River Cruise program, we have added a brand new nine-day Egyptian Experience to our 2007 Cost Saver program,” he said.

Insight Vacations managing director Lorraine Sharp said she expected the destination to continue to achieve solid growth over the next few years, with many Australians looking for something different from the traditional European holiday.

”Egypt represents this through diversity in culture and extensive historic significance,” Sharp said.

“In fact, our Egypt product continues to top our highest selling tour lists month after month. We often have multiple Egyptian tours in our top 10.”

Trafalgar’s Wiseman said clients who have little or no travelling experience could benefit from a fully escorted coach tour through the region for peace of mind.

“Travelling though the region independently can present all kinds of problems, with language and cultural barriers sometimes causing unnecessary hassles,” he said.

“An escorted tour is a great option for clients wishing to see the sights without the hassles.”
