InterContinental global sale marks 10 years of web bookings

InterContinental Hotels Group is holding a global online sale to mark its 10th anniversary of online reservations.

The group is offering between 20 and 40 per cent off room rates for stays between July 1 and September 10.

Bookings must be made next week (June 6-10).

Discounts will be available at all the group’s hotels, which include the InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites brands.

Bookings can be made online (www.ichotels.com/10years).

“Ten years ago when we launched our first website for Holiday Inn, we were pioneers of this untested, unproven channel,” ICH senior vice president Eric Pearson said.

“For perspective, when we announced the site in June 1995, current Internet titans eBay and Amazon.com hadn’t even hit the web; but we believed in the Internet’s tremendous potential as a powerful reservation channel for our customers and pushed on.

“Ten years later, our websites have grown from a USD1 million business to more than a USD1 billion business.

Around 5.2 million IHC bookings were made online last year, the group claimed.
