Australian hotels on ‘weird’ list

Eight Australian hotels have made it into an online guide to the world’s most unusual hotels.

The Unusual Hotels of the World guide (www.uhotw.com) includes more than 120 properties from across the world.

Four of the Australian hotels are underground or cave properties: Desert Cave Hotel (Coober Pedy, SA), the Underground Motel and PJs Underground Bed and Breakfast (both in Whitecliffs, NSW) and the Eagle View Escape (earth-covered luxury units west of the NSW Blue Mountains).

Three are tree-house properties, all in Queensland: Secrets on the Lake (Montville), Daintree Ecolodge (Daintree) and Fur ‘n’ Feathers Rainforest Tree Houses (outside of Malanda, near Cairns).

Also included is Possums Hideaway, which offers features eco-sensitive cabins in Blackheath, NSW.
