Wicked Campers to be banned in Queensland

Wicked Campers, the popular car hire company with backpackers travelling around Australia, will be banned in Queensland.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is introducing legislation revoking the registration of commercial operators who refuse to remove offensive slogans from their vehicles.

The move is the first step towards the end for the controversial artwork on the vans which has put the company in hot water for the past few years.

“With this legislation, vehicles registered in Queensland that display sexist, obscene or otherwise offensive advertising will face the prospect of having their registration cancelled,” Palaszczuk said.

“I am pleased that this important initiative is now one step closer to becoming enforceable.”

Queensland Main Roads plans to target the sexist, misogynistic and inappropriate slogans through registration cancellation has been an innovative solution.

    1. big deal, they’ll just register their cars somewhere else. Nanny state. Actually the company hasn’t been in hot water, but they get a lot of free advertising from govt. & people complaining. Doesn’t harm their business one little bit.
