It’s a best in show presentation of the travel industry, although we’re not suggesting these brands had to run laps or jump through hoops to impress the judges.

YouGov BrandIndex has unveiled its Best Brands of 2017, and while we could’ve shown you the figures for cars or banks, we thought travel was more your style, plus it’s a way cooler industry anyway!

These airline, hotel and booking brands were rated using YouGov BrandIndex’s Index score, which is a measure of overall brand health that takes into account consumers’ perceptions of a brand’s quality, value, impression, satisfaction, reputation and whether they would recommend the brand to others.

The Index Rankings list shows the brands with the highest average Index scores between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017, with the scores representative of the general population.

In the airline stakes, naturally it was Qantas that took the lead, with Malaysia Airlines taking out the ‘most improved’ title.

For bookings, it was an interesting result, with Booking.com coming in first, closely followed by Flight Centre. It’s not the first time these two have been neck-and-neck in such a race, and earlier this year, Booking.com won Australia’s favourite travel agency.

And in hotels, Hilton and Sheraton were up there fighting for number one.
