Where to find Australia’s best hotel

Where to find Australia’s best hotel

The Villas of Byron in NSW has been named the best hotel in Australia, beating big cities to win HotelsCombined Recognition of Excellence Awards 2017.

The luxury Byron Bay villas, located on NSW’s North Coast, beat more than 116 finalists on HotelsCombined for outstanding customer satisfaction.

The Recognition of Excellence Awards is an annual award announced in the first quarter of every year, with 2017 its inaugural year.

“The recognition of Excellence Awards celebrate the very best hotels for exemplary customer service across Australia. We are proud to name the Villas of Byron, one of Byron Bay’s best-loved hotels, with the title of top hotel in Australia,” Head of Marketing for HotelsCombined Australia and New Zealand, Chris Rivett said.

“While Byron Bay is one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations, it’s surprising to see it take out larger capital cities with better known hotels. While only independent hotels were eligible for the awards, this trend also reflected across state-wide hotel winners which were all located in regional areas, with the exception of Darwin.

“This suggests the best independent hotel customer service in Australia is found in small towns and regions as opposed to big cities.”

Analysed by HotelsCombined’s team of data experts, the Recognition of Excellence Awards are based on criteria including quality and consistency of guest reviews, customer ratings, the absence of recurring or unresolved issues, blogs, forums and social media posts.

Finalists and winners are representative of the highest standards in the industry, averaging 9.7 out of a possible 10 points, compared to the industry standard of 7.2, placing them within the top three per cent of hotels worldwide.

“The awards allow winning hotels to stand out from their competitors, especially in crowded tourist areas with lots of accommodation options. Customer service is an excellent measure of success in the hotel industry, and the awards also provide a reliable benchmark for prospective customers to use when booking accommodation,” Rivett added.

Winners will receive an official certificate as well as a symbol of recognition and trust which will be publicly displayed as an image on their HotelsCombined.com.au listing. They will also receive a free ‘Official Site’ link to its HotelsCombined profile, completely free of charge.
