Wendy Wu comments on CEO departure

Wendy Wu Tours has confirmed that Joe Karbo, global CEO, has left the company with effect from 19 July 2019.

Karbo commenced as Global CEO in 2016 and during this time led the global growth of the company.

Karbo has helped the business to achieve many innovations, such as the company’s digital transformation as well as the joint venture of the new Victoria Mekong River Cruise ship that enters service on the Mekong in December this year.

More recently Karbo has had a 12-month term managing the Australia office and has continued the growth in Australia during this time.

The tour company said in a statement that due to structural changes to the global organisation, the CEO role has been disbanded.

“We sincerely thank Joe for his commitment, support and dedication to the business throughout the last three years and wish him all the very best for his next role,” Wendy Wu, Founder and Chairwoman at Wendy Wu Tours said.

Wendy Wu Tours is currently recruiting for a Managing Director for its Australia division.

Karbo told Travel Weekly he will not be providing comment at this time.
