Video of two men carrying ’emotional support’ falcons on flight goes viral

A video has emerged of two men boarding a plane with three ’emotional support’ falcons, delighting Twitter and opening the flood gates for some great jokes.

Twitter user @DonnirDoesWorld uploaded an 11-second clip of the men, one carrying two falcons, the other carrying one and smiling broadly, with the caption “Folks two dudes just boarded my plane with ’emotional support’ falcons”.

And Twitter bloody loved it.

However, many were quick to point out that it’s not that rare to see falcons onboard a plane, particularly on Middle Eastern carriers.

“If you fly on Royal Jordanian Airways you’ll have the best chance of this happening. They allow 2 falcons per person (till the max of I think 10 per plane is reached). Other middle eastern airlines allow them too but fewer. In the UAE falcons are issued their own passports,” Twitter user @Liz_Alfreda said.

One user pointed out that perhaps it was the animals who required support while flying, rather than the men carrying them.

“Pets have died in airplanes in cages stored where luggage is stored. Air quality and pressure change within plane, falcons do not do well with change effecting their eating habits sometimes for days. Perched on falconers arm is a comfort to the birds, respected and loved,” @Tina76748615 said.

    1. The header image you have used is not of a falcon. Also the idea of falcons on planes might make you happy but the trade in falcons and the hunting of bustards by their owners is causing the decline of falcons and bustards throughout the Middle East and Asia.
