US bound flights cop electronics ban

Passengers will be banned from carrying large electronics onboard foreign aircrafts bound to the US.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, US Authorities will be placing the ban on large electronics on international flights bound to the US, following a terrorism threat.

A government official has said devices larger than a mobile phone will not be permitted to be taken onboard by some passengers.

It is yet to be confirmed which countries and airlines the ban will be enforced to, but an offical has said that no American carriers will be affected.

It’s known that Royal Jordanian is affected, with the airline tweeting, “Following instructions from the concerned U.S. departments, we kindly inform our dearest passengers departing to and arriving from the United States that carrying any electronic or electrical device on board the flight cabins is strictly prohibited.”

Rumours also suggest at least one Saudi Arabian airline is also on the list.

During the flight

Devices such as laptops, tablets, cameras and electronic games will not be permitted as carry on but can be stowed in checked baggage. Mobile phones and medical devices will be allowed onboard.

Fox News has reported the ban appeared to apply to 13 countries for the next 96 hours, and could be in response to a new intelligence threat.
