TripAdvisor crowns top travel favourites

TripAdvisor has announced the products and services that have won our travelling hearts.

The Travellers’ Choice awards for Travel Favourites zoned in on the top travel companions from around the globe, spanning Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, the UK and the US.

Covering everything from airlines and hire cars to luggage and accessories, TripAvisor has narrowed down the choices, with 44 winners taking home a crown, featuring Phillips as the favourite hairdryer, Nivea as the top body lotion, and Mount Franklin as everyone’s top rated bottled water.

Chief marketing officer Barbara Messing said the Travel Favourites pin down what’s important to the global community.

“These award-winning products and services, voted on by our community, are the ‘must have items’ to consider bringing on your next trip.”

Winners include some persistent names that have won their category every year, while others are fresh to the hall of fame.

The old favourites who are yet to relinquish their title include:

  • Backpack: Kathmandu
  • Bottled water: Mount Franklin
  • Cooler: Esky
  • Coffee: Lavazza

And it’s no surprise that for the second year in a row, home-grown carrier Qantas Airways has been crowned Australia’s favourite domestic and international airline.

Travellers cite “loyalty program”, “in-flight service” and “customer experience” as reasons why Qantas is named a favourite amongst flyers.

“We are thrilled that Qantas continues to be regarded as Australia’s favourite airline by the TripAdvisor community – this award is wonderful recognition of the hard work and passion of our people,” Qantas Group’s executive brand, marketing and corporate affairs Olivia Wirth said.
