Travel agent completes $15,000 bookings while in labour

Close Up Of Pregnant Businesswoman In Office

A home-based travel agent in the UK went to extreme lengths for her clients recently, proving just how much she loves her job.

27-year-old Toni Linney, who operates the Liverpool franchise Not Just Travel, Northwest, managed to make two bookings worth around AU$15,000 as she went into labour with her first child, per Travel Weekly UK.

Linney was sitting in her hospital bed experiencing contractions every five minutes, but insisted that she would rather be doing what she loved than sitting around waiting for her water to break.

“The work was a distraction from the pain,” she told TW UK. “I don’t suppose many people would do it but I would not have coped in bed all day doing nothing.

“My waters hadn’t broken but I was having contractions every five minutes.”

Linney said she was working on two enquiries that she received the same morning she went into Liverpool Women’s Hospital, and kept herself busy ringing hotels to ask about prices, and contacting tour operator Travelpack on behalf of a couple and a family of four wanting to go to Dubai.

“My laptop goes everywhere with me. We try to respond as quickly as possible and like to get quotes out in half an hour,” she said.

Per TW UK, Travelpack business development manager Heena Bhudia said, “Our travel consultant Delwyn Hughes knew he’d have to move quickly to get these bookings done when there was such time pressure and he was pleased to be able to do it.”

Both bookings were completed and paid for by the following afternoon, just hours prior to the birth of Florence Evelyn Rood at 11.23pm, after an exhausting 30+ hours in labour.

Being a true advocate for home-based work, Linney said she was back at work in no time, adding, “I can still look after Florence and I’m not missing out on time with her as I’m at home.”

What a trooper!
