This US airline just made flying economy much more bearable

Flying economy just levelled up following this announcement from one of America’s biggest carriers.

Delta Airways has given it’s economy offering a spruce with the addition of free cocktails, hot towel service and more choice when it comes to in-flight meals.

The new changed, which will be rolled out on Delta’s international routes in November, have been trialled on more than 700 flights between Portland and Tokyo over the past year, and, unsurprisingly, it’s a hit.

“The thoughtful touches we’re investing in throughout the new Main Cabin experience were designed by flight attendants with one goal in mind — delivering an exceptional experience that our customers will rave about and one that our team, the best in the business, is proud to deliver,” Allison Ausband, Delta’s senior vice president — in-flight Service said.

The revamped experiences starts with the welcome cocktails, featuring Bellinis no less, followed by a refreshing hot towel service to kick off the flight. Next comes the revamped meal choices, with “-‘bistro-style’ mix and match entrees and a selection of mains and desserts that will be served separately.

That’s right! No more tiny tray with three corses crammed together in the most un-appetising way possible.

The final touch is a small token of gratitude from the airline in the form of a little chocolate which flight attendants will hand you as you leave your flight.

If you’re more of a visual learner, here’s a handy graphic run-down of the new service.
