The most Instagrammed (and beautiful) places in Australia

Lauren Croft

Okay, we know you’re all obsessed with Europe, or Bali, or India – or basically anywhere that isn’t Australia. But this map will have you cancelling your international flights in minutes.

There’s nothing worse for an Instagram aesthetic than a ton of people in your snaps – and there’s nothing worse in real life than a crowded waterfall or “hidden” beach.

But don’t you worry, because Assured Removalists have collected a list of the most beautiful hidden gems in Australia – all underrated and off the beaten track.

The list is in order of most used hashtag on Instagram – and has been popped on an epic interactive map where you can view photos of said hidden gems, plus how many hashtags scored them a spot on the list.

From hidden waterfalls to secret spots in National Parks, there’s bound to be a stunning Instagram shot in there somewhere.

So check out these quick ~fun facts~ from Assured Removalists’ research:

  • Moreton Island is the most instagrammed hidden gem in Australia – with the hashtag #MoretonIsland mentioned no less than 63,923 times on one of our favourite social media platforms, this place is surely worth a visit.
  • Go down under at Fish Rock Cave – this hidden treasure found in South West Rocks, NSW shows off some breathtaking underwater photographs
  • 5 Aussie National Parks rank in the most instagrammed lesser-known destinations – these include Sydney Royal National Park, Undara Volcanic National Park, Kakadu National Park, Myall Lakes National Park and Carnarvon Gorge National Park.

Head here to spend hours clicking the map (and subsequently on Instagram) groaning over how bloody beautiful our country is.
