Steady as she goes for Uniworld

Visiting Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection president Guy Young has outlined the company’s future course, with a focus on a high end offering the key strategic plank, as opposed to untrammelled growth.

Speaking to assorted media yesterday at a function at Café Sydney, Young said that Uniworld’s firm priority was “to be the best, not the biggest”. He went on to describe the company’s ambition of “very measured growth”.

Expansion, however, is not off the table according to Young, who said that the introduction of one to two new ships a year was a reasonable expectation.

Elsewhere, speaking of Uniworld’s bespoke offering, he gave the example of the SS Catherine, “which has over $2 million worth of artwork onboard”.

Young also took the opportunity to announce the launch of a new Uniworld vessel, the SS Joie de Vivre, which will cruise the waters of the France’s Seine River, with an inaugural sailing slated for March 28, 2017. “The vessel will incorporate French flair and as per its name, will encapsulate the joy of living. At 125 metres, it is the longest vessel that can legally operate on the Seine.”

The Joie de Vivre can cater for 128 guests, with 64 staterooms and 10 suites – with two Royal Suites.

Also highlighted was the operator’s commitment to haute cuisine, with the lunch featuring a vegan menu, the likes of which are offered on Uniworld cruises.
