A Qantas flight from Melbourne to Perth was delayed after a passenger sparked concerns while boarding the plane.

The QF481 flight was due to take off from Melbourne Airport at 6.50pm on Saturday but was delayed for a number of hours as Australian Federal Police and Qantas security staff checked the plane.

A Qantas spokesperson said no safety or security risk was found and the flight continued to Perth, where it landed safely at 11.15pm.

“Some passengers elected not to travel so there was a delay as bags were taken off and those passengers disembarked,” the spokesperson told AAP on Sunday.
