Qantas passengers smell smoke on Perth flight

Passengers on a Qantas flight copped a scare on Tuesday when they began to smell smoke in the cabin.

The incident occurred during a flight from Sydney to Perth, according to Perth Now, and caused authorities to call in a priority landing, which requires emergency services to be nearby upon landing.

Travel Weekly understands cabin crew turned off power to the inflight entertainment system, after which the smell cleared up.

The flight was able to land in Perth at its scheduled time, just after 10pm, and Qantas has confirmed emergency services did not attend.

Engineers are investigating the source of the smell.
