Qantas flight diverted to Singapore after ‘mechanical fault’

Melbourne, Australia - November 19, 2012: Qantas Airways Airbus A380 registered VH-OQF takes off as QF93 to Los Angeles (LAX) from Melbourne International Airport at Tullamarine, Victoria.

A Qantas plane travelling from Dubai to Melbourne was forced to land in Singapore after suffering a ‘mechanical fault’ with its engine.

QF-10 was three hours into its flight from Dubai to Melbourne late yesterday when it was diverted to Singapore at 4.30pm local time (7.30pm AEDT), a Qantas spokesperson told Seven News.

The plane completed a routine landing at Changi airport where the engine was assessed by engineers. Customers were booked on the next available service to their destination or provided overnight accommodation.

According to Seven News, Qantas has thanked customers for their patience and understanding as the aircraft returns to service today.
