Passenger numbers are on the rise at Qantas, with a solid increase in overseas travellers.

The flying kangaroo lifted total passenger numbers by 2.1% during July.

Driving the result was a 5.3% rise in Qantas international passenger numbers compared to a year earlier, while budget subsidiary Jetstar’s overseas services enjoyed a 2.4% increase.

However, passenger growth was weaker for Qantas’ domestic services, up by just 0.8%.

Jetstar domestic passengers rose 4.4%.

“Qantas domestic capacity was marginally lower in the month, with growth on east coast routes offset by adjustments to address resource market softness in Western Australia and Queensland,” Qantas said on Tuesday.
